A strange twist overshadowed India’s win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final. Even after lifting the title on the field, Team India didn’t receive the actual trophy. Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi walked away with the cup when India chose not to accept it from him.
With no other official stepping up for the presentation, the champions were left without the trophy. Soon after, several Indian players shared humorous posts online, making light of the bizarre ending. Among them was Varun Chakravarthy, who stole the spotlight with his hilarious Instagram post.
Chakravarthy’s Viral Coffee Cup Moment
The mystery spinner posted a funny picture of himself lying in bed with his arm around a coffee cup — standing in for the missing trophy.
“I had planned everything. After we won the second match (against Pakistan), I knew we were going to win if we played them in the final. So I thought I’d post a picture of myself sleeping with the trophy. But after the match, there was nothing next to me. Just a coffee cup. So I went with it,” Varun Chakravarthy revealed, speaking on Breakfast with Champions.
His light-hearted post instantly spread across social media, capturing the absurd situation perfectly.
“Cup Chheen Sakte Hain, But We Are Champions”
Chakravarthy didn’t shy away from addressing the situation. He delivered a subtle jab at Naqvi’s actions.
“It felt good, I knew we were going to win all the matches. We are the No. 1 team in the world. Cup chheen sakte hain (you can snatch the cup), but we are champions,” Chakravarthy added.
The star bowler was instrumental in India’s Asia Cup run, claiming seven wickets in six matches at a tight economy of 6.50. The trophy incident aside, this win marked Chakravarthy’s second ICC title of the year after the Champions Trophy 2025.
India may not have posed with the trophy that night, but they left no doubt about who the real champions were.
