Vaibhav Suryavanshi has become the biggest young name in cricket. Fans, teammates, and cricket lovers are all in awe of his talent and fearless batting style.
Supporters have already started travelling miles to meet him. During India’s UK tour, two girls wearing Rajasthan Royals jerseys drove six hours to click a photo with him. His teammate Vihaan Malhotra revealed the youngster’s reaction to the viral moment.
“Vaibhav ke fans aaye hue the. Wo bol rahe the ki Vaibhav ko bulao, aur use sharm aa rahi thi. Hum use chidhate rehte the,” Malhotra told Times of India.
“He is the youngest of the lot, so we always kind of try and take care of him,” he added.
IPL Debut and U19 Heroics
Suryavanshi showed no nerves in his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals. Facing Shardul Thakur, he smacked his very first ball for six. His biggest moment came against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans when he scored the fastest century by an Indian batter in IPL history, reaching the landmark in just 35 balls.
In the Youth ODI series against England U19, Suryavanshi smashed 355 runs in five matches, including a sensational 143 in the fourth game. Alongside Vihaan Malhotra, he added 209 runs for the second wicket, with Malhotra scoring 129.
“The focus on Vaibhav and Ayush kind of helped me as I went under the radar. They wanted to get them out early. All the bowlers wanted to get the wicket of IPL players,” Malhotra recalled.
“We both scored centuries, but he smoked 10 sixes and I had the best seat in the house. His bat swing is something we are in awe of,” he added.
