Nitish Reddy Asked Cummins for England Tour Tips
Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is making headlines on his first tour of England, and a big part of his preparation came from an unexpected source—his IPL captain, Pat Cummins. Before the series began, Reddy reached out to Cummins, who led him at Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, seeking tips about English conditions. Cummins offered practical advice that Reddy took seriously, and it seems to have paid off.
Speaking to the media after Day 1 of the third Test, Reddy shared the conversation. “I just asked him what’s different about playing in England,” he said. “He told me to watch the weather closely and just stick to my game. That advice gave me a sense of clarity.”

In addition to Cummins’ words, Reddy gained exposure through two India A matches before the Test series. That game time helped him adjust to local conditions. He also spent valuable time with India bowling coach Morne Morkel, who played a key role in shaping his recent improvements.
“I had good chats with Morne as well. We’re seeing solid progress in my bowling and I’m enjoying working with him,” Reddy added.
Reddy had a modest outing with the ball during India’s tour of Australia earlier in the year, delivering 44 overs without much impact. But this time around, he came in more focused. He had barely bowled during the IPL season, which raised doubts about his bowling rhythm. However, in the third Test, he answered those doubts with immediate impact.
Breakthrough Performance at Lord’s
On Day 1 of the third Test against England, Reddy removed both openers—Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley—in the same over. It was a powerful statement of intent from the young all-rounder.
“After the Australia tour, I made a promise to myself to improve my bowling. Consistency is the main thing I’m working on,” he said.
With guidance from international stars and consistent personal effort, Nitish Reddy has begun carving a space for himself in India’s Test squad. His development with the ball could prove crucial as India look to seal the series on English soil.
