Ishan Kishan Rejects BCCI Offer to Replace Pant (1)
Team India’s plans to replace injured Rishabh Pant for the final Test in England hit a roadblock as Ishan Kishan turned down the offer. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee reportedly approached the young wicketkeeper-batter to join the squad, but Kishan had to reject the proposal due to an unfortunate injury.
Kishan, who was recently playing for Nottinghamshire in the County Championship and impressed with scores of 87 and 77, sustained an ankle injury after a fall from a scooty. Reports revealed that the injury was severe enough to require stitches on his left ankle, making it impossible for him to fly to England.
N Jagadeesan Set to Join as Wicketkeeper Replacement
With Kishan ruled out, Tamil Nadu’s N Jagadeesan is now expected to replace Rishabh Pant for the final Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The 27-year-old right-handed batter has played 52 first-class matches, scoring 3373 runs and recording 133 catches along with 14 stumpings.
The selectors are likely to finalize Jagadeesan’s inclusion soon, as India looks to stabilize its lineup following Pant’s injury and Kishan’s unavailability. Jagadeesan’s experience in domestic cricket makes him a strong candidate to step into the role in England.
