Indian Players Register for SA20 2025 Auction
The SA20 2025 auction has attracted 13 Indian players, all either retired or not part of the IPL. Scheduled for September 9 in Johannesburg, the auction will feature Piyush Chawla, Siddharth Kaul, and Ankit Rajpoot among others, marking a rare chance for Indian cricketers in overseas leagues.
Base Price & Wild Card Option
Each Indian cricketer carries a base price of 200,000 Rand. However, Piyush Chawla is the only exception, with a higher reserve price of 1,000,000 Rand. The six franchises together hold a combined purse of USD 7.4 million, with 84 slots available.
For Season 4, SA20 has also introduced a new Wildcard option. Each franchise can sign one Wildcard player, either overseas or South African. The Wildcard salary will remain outside the salary cap.
Dinesh Karthik – First Indian in SA20
Former India wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik became the first Indian cricketer to feature in SA20. After ending his international and IPL career, he joined Paarl Royals in Season 3.
