Harbhajan Singh Blasts Pakistan’s Senior Bowlers
India defeated Pakistan twice in the Asia Cup 2025, stretching their winning streak over their rivals to seven matches. The results underlined the widening gap between the two sides, with India’s consistency standing out. Former spinner Harbhajan Singh attributed Pakistan’s struggles to poor leadership and the inability of their senior players to take responsibility when it mattered.
Speaking to Sports Today, Harbhajan stressed that matches are decided by skill, not verbal exchanges. “If talks were to win the game, I think they would have won. But it was between bat and ball, and I think that’s where India were far, far ahead of Pakistan.”
‘If your experienced players are only shouting…’
Harbhajan directed criticism at Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, highlighting their failure to make an early breakthrough against India’s openers. Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma capitalized on this, putting together a dominant 105-run stand.
“Their senior bowlers like Haris or Shaheen Shah Afridi, they went for plenty. They couldn’t get a single wicket in the first six overs. They are the most experienced players,” Harbhajan noted. “So if your experienced players are only shouting and talking, and not able to deliver with the ball or bat, you’ll see the results they are getting.”
India’s Batters Answered With Performance
Haris Rauf spent much of the innings engaging with the crowd and exchanging words with the Indian openers, eventually finishing with two wickets. Shaheen Afridi, however, was taken apart and ended his spell wicketless after conceding 40 runs.
Harbhajan dismissed Pakistan’s sledging as irrelevant when compared to India’s dominance. “Let them talk, we will talk with the bat and ball, and we will answer when required the best,” he concluded.
