India U19 Squad Announced for Australia Tour
The BCCI has officially announced the India U19 squad for the upcoming tour of Australia set to begin on September 21. Mumbai’s rising talent Ayush Mhatre will continue as the captain for both the ODI and Test formats. Joining him as the biggest name in the squad is 14-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who has been turning heads with his attacking style and impressive performances.
The core of the squad remains consistent with the group that recently competed in England, including vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra, wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu, and all-rounder RS Ambrish. The team will play three Youth ODIs followed by two Youth Tests during the month-long tour.
The three ODIs will take place at Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane, while the two four-day Tests will be split between Brisbane and the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
Suryavanshi and Mhatre Headline a Strong Squad
Suryavanshi will be eager to perform in red-ball cricket after a quiet Test series in England, though he was the top run-scorer in the ODI series, helping India win 3-2. He also impressed against Australia earlier this year in Chennai, where he smashed a 58-ball century in a Youth Test match.
Captain Ayush Mhatre, who already plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket, was the top scorer in the recent Test series in England with 340 runs. His steady form and leadership earned him the continued responsibility of leading the squad Down Under.
