MS Dhoni's Long-Term Commitment to CSK Beyond Playing Years
After months of speculation, MS Dhoni has finally spoken about his future with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). During a private event this week, the legendary cricketer confirmed that his bond with CSK extends beyond his playing career.
“Me and CSK, we are together. You know even for the next 15-20 years (crowd cheers). I hope they don’t think I’ll be playing for another 15-20 years! But yeah,” Dhoni said with a smile, revealing his commitment to CSK for many years to come.
Dhoni Reflects on CSK’s Recent Challenges
While speculation about Dhoni’s retirement after IPL 2024 has been widespread, the 44-year-old has made an impressive recovery from his knee injury. He stepped up to captain CSK midway through IPL 2025 after Ruturaj Gaikwad’s injury. Despite leading CSK to a tough season, finishing last, Dhoni remains optimistic about the future.
“It’s not about one year or two years. I will always be sitting in a yellow jersey. You know whether I’ll be playing or not in a while, but yeah, you know yourself,” Dhoni teased fans, hinting at his ongoing involvement with CSK.
Looking Ahead: Gaikwad’s Return and CSK’s Strategy
Dhoni acknowledged the team’s struggles over the past couple of years but remains hopeful for the upcoming seasons. “Yes, the last couple of years have not been good for us. We have not been up to the mark. But what is important is for you to see the learnings. Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong?” Dhoni reflected.
With Ruturaj Gaikwad set to return from injury, Dhoni is confident that CSK’s batting issues will be addressed. “Rutu will be coming back. He got injured. But he will be coming back. So, we are quite sorted now,” he said. Dhoni also mentioned the December mini-auction as a chance to strengthen the team further.
