Anshul Kamboj Likely to Debut in 4th Test vs England
Young fast bowler Anshul Kamboj could be in line for his India Test debut in the fourth Test against England at Old Trafford, Manchester. Kamboj bowled for over 45 minutes with the new ball during India’s training session and had multiple chats with head coach Gautam Gambhir. He also spent time learning from senior pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, raising speculation about his inclusion in the playing XI.
According to reports, Kamboj maintained a steady line and length while bowling to India’s top-order batters, including KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and captain Shubman Gill. His strong performance in the India A tour, where he took five wickets, had already placed him on the selectors’ radar before the series began.
Injury Setbacks Open Door for Kamboj
India’s squad has been hit by injuries leading into the fourth Test. Arshdeep Singh was ruled out after sustaining a thumb injury during a net session. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was sidelined with a knee injury, and Akash Deep, who starred with a 10-wicket haul in Birmingham, is doubtful due to a groin issue from the Lord’s Test.
While the BCCI hasn’t officially ruled out Akash Deep, reports suggest he did not participate in full training and is unlikely to be match-fit. Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana are also available, but Krishna did not bowl with the new ball in training, indicating the team may be leaning towards Kamboj.
With Shardul Thakur expected to replace Nitish in the all-rounder role, Kamboj’s inclusion could be India’s key change in the bowling lineup for the must-win fourth Test. All eyes will now be on the team announcement at Old Trafford.
