Ravindra Jadeja added another major achievement to his Test career on Tuesday, becoming the fifth Indian bowler to take 50 wickets against South Africa. The left-arm all-rounder reached the milestone during the second Test in Guwahati, where he struck twice in the morning session of Day 4 to reach the landmark figure.
Playing his 11th Test against the Proteas, Jadeja has now claimed 50 wickets in just 19 innings, placing himself among India’s most successful bowlers in this historic rivalry.
Jadeja Joins an Elite Indian Club
With this feat, Jadeja joins an exclusive group of Indian bowlers who have crossed 50 Test wickets against South Africa—Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath, Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin.
His accuracy, control and consistency in home conditions have made him one of India’s most dependable Test bowlers over the years.
Kumble Still Leads the Pack
While Jadeja continues to climb the list, Anil Kumble remains the highest wicket-taker for India in Tests against South Africa.
Kumble, India’s legendary leg-spinner, collected 84 wickets in 21 matches, a record that has stood for years.
