Apollo Tyres Becomes India’s New Jersey Sponsor in INR 4.5 Crore Deal
In a major development, Apollo Tyres has won the bid to become the Indian cricket team’s official jersey sponsor in a deal worth INR 4.5 crore per game. This sponsorship deal, which will run until 2027, comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) ended its previous agreement with Dream11. The new deal marks a significant increase from the previous sponsorship terms, with Apollo Tyres outbidding competitors like Canva and JK Cements.
New Sponsorship Terms and Increased Payments
According to reports, Apollo Tyres will pay INR 4.5 crore per match, a considerable increase from Dream11’s INR 4 crore per game. The sponsorship contract is expected to cover approximately 130 international matches for India until 2027. The Indian team will now wear the Apollo Tyres logo on their jerseys, with the new partnership set to kick off during the two-match home Test series against the West Indies, starting October 2.
Apollo Tyres secured the deal by placing a winning bid of INR 579 crore, beating Canva and JK Cements, who bid INR 544 crore and INR 477 crore, respectively. This makes Apollo Tyres not just the new sponsor but also a major contributor to India’s cricketing finances.
BCCI’s New Jersey Sponsorship Terms
After Dream11’s early exit from the sponsorship deal, the BCCI called for fresh bids in September. The governing body restricted companies involved in real-money gaming, cryptocurrency, and certain other sectors from participating. Companies in sectors like athleisure, banking, finance, non-alcoholic beverages, and insurance were also not eligible.
With Apollo Tyres securing the jersey sponsorship, India’s cricket team will now enter a new chapter of sponsorship, with the tyre manufacturing giant gaining significant visibility in international cricket.
Apollo Tyres Joins Hands with Indian Cricket Team
This partnership between Apollo Tyres and the Indian cricket team marks a new era in the world of cricket sponsorships. With an INR 4.5 crore per match deal, the BCCI has struck a major deal with a company that is poised to be at the forefront of Indian cricket sponsorship for the next several years.
